Welcome from St Stephens
Our mission is to provide a welcoming, and safe
environment for the people of our community.
Our aim is to make worship and prayer accessible to
everyone regardless of age, gender, race or social status.
Our vision is actively to participate in spreading the love of Christ to everyone at their own point of need.
Welcome to the St Stephen’s website. I hope it will give you an outline of our church community, and provide an introduction to the services and events which happen in the Parish. We are part of the Chipping Barnet Team which is made up of four churches St John the Baptist Chipping Barnet, St Mark’s Barnet Vale, St Peter’s Arkley, and St Stephen’s Bells Hill. Over the years St Stephen’s has changed and developed. The present congregation is small, friendly and welcoming. We belong to Churches Together for Chipping Barnet and join with the local Baptist and URC church for social events, children’s fun days and for special services. As a church community we believe we are on a journey together and we pray that we may live God’s love in our daily lives not only in our worship in church but in the wider community
Do come and enjoy one of the events which take place in our church and hall. Join us, as we worship God and pray for the people of our local community.
We look forward to getting to know you and hope you will feel you would like to remain with us as we grow together into God’s love, and help us as to bring this love to the wider community.
We would like to thank all those who have contributed generously over the years to the running costs of our church.
These are difficult times financially. People are struggling to make ends meet and the church is no different. In our Parsh there is a yearly deficit of between £25,000 and £30,000.
It costs £285 per week which is £57 per day to run St Stephens. These are just the basic running costs and do not take into account any unforseen expenses.
We are very grateful for any donations we receive, but by far the most efficient way to donate is via a monthly standing order.
In the coming 12 months the DCC will be exploring a Mission Action Plan which will decide our priorities as a church for the next 5 years. It will look at ministry amongst children famiies and young people; enriching our worship in the parish. In particular it is an important time with the Dollis Valley as it is undergoes regeneration.
